The UK Chess Challenge first took place in 1996 and has since grown into the largest children’s chess tournament in the world. The beauty of the event is that it welcomes all-comers from beginners to National Champions and schools from all corners of the United Kingdom take part. The terafinal is the fourth and final stage of the tournament, hosting the top 200 players battling it out over 5 sections for a prizepool in excess of £15,000. The Top 5 places and the Top Girl will win a share of the prizes. The U12 section has a £800 first prize with the Top Girl winning £400.
